The Falkirk Wheel, originally designed as a rotating boat lift for the lochs in Scotland has found a new use within the HSR Network of Australia. The wheel will be used to rotate carriages off the train and interchange it with one which was in waiting on the other side of the wheel. The Falkirk Wheel uses gravity to swap the two carriages, and as such has little need for electricity.
